Summer of Santa Fe!!

James and I are now officially living in Santa Fe, NM! We loaded up our cars and drove the 5.5 hours down from Denver (the drive wasn't too bad for all you possible visitors, so come on down!) The drive went pretty well, besides me having to pee 20 minutes after we left (damn you coffee!) it was awesome because James and I had walkie talkies!! SO FUN!! We finally arrive in Santa Fe and it looks pretty cool, we pass Trader Joe's and a couple of cafe's before we pull up to a cute little adobe bungalow. Before we open the door to our new summer home James again warns me that it's small and not to worry about fitting in our stuff. (remember, 2 cars worth). We open the door and man, james was right, it was TINY...400 sq. feet... but SO cute! Its a furnished place with a stocked kitchen, linens, hardwood floors, cute bathroom and loads of santa fe charm. It is decorated with local artist's work including paintings, ceramic tile and a few wooden animals, some odd but cute. We start moving our stuff in and I knew right away we brought too much. Even after the inventory list, (which we discovered did not include everything the place had), which means we had lots of duplicates... ugh. The place was small enough as it was, not to mention having to store an extra crock pot, teapot, etc, etc. But things started to come together and it was looking like our place! We found places for everything and it doesn't look too cramped if you can believe it.

We woke up this morning and decided to venture out to explore the town. We walked about 1/2 mile down to the plaza where they have endless cafe's, bakery's, restaurants and shops and stopped in at Tia Sophia's, where they are suppose to have the "best breakfast burritos in the world.." and they totally were!! (Thanks Rich!) After breakfast we spent the next few hours just walking around the plaza. Yes, I said hours.. there's so much! Museums, churches, cafe's, jewelry stores, book stores, trinket shops.. it just seems to keep going! when you think you're at the end you go through a door and discover a 10 more shops. I think I'll like it here :)

We also went to the Opera house where James was able to check in and take a look around. The opera house.. it. was. AWESOME. Its nestled up a windy road in the mountains with a beautiful view. We check in and James has to go get fitted for costumes. We get to walk back stage where there are at least 30+ people working on sets and costumes. This is the REAL DEAL! This is a whole different world than I'm used to, I guess for James too, being at big name professional opera company. Its exciting to think where we could be in a few years, and to think how blessed we are to be able to be together while he has this opportunity! James starts tomorrow and is really excited! 1st official day of Santa Fe is over, so excited for the rest of the summer.. bring it on!!
