Last Sunday James and I went rafting down the Rio Grande! (Sorry no pictures, no water proof camera..) We went with a group of people from the opera program and we had a blast! We had a great raft guide who knew so much about the river and the surrounding area. The six of us in our raft were doing really well, so the guide had us do some advanced stuff! We were doing this maneuver, which involved positioning the raft against a boulder and letting the surge of water tilt the raft where half of us were up in the air and half were down close to the water. At a certain point the people in the left side were supposed to lean to the right to stay in the raft, but it happened so quickly when both James and the raft guide were swiftly taken down river!! Haha!! So the rest of us, started rafting down to go grab them. Luckily it was a somewhat calm portion of water so they didn’t get hurt and we were able to grab them easily. When we got all situated again our guide was joking about how he has never fallen in before and the ongoing joke among the guides was if they fell in they had to drink a shot of vodka out of a wet boot!! Ugh! At the end of the day everyone was okay, a little to a lot wet, but had a great time!
