Meet me in St. Louis

Day 1 driving was our longest day at 14 hours. THANK GOODNESS we decided to leave our bed in Colorado, which meant no Uhaul, and we could drive across the country both in comfort (and soccer mom style!) in a dodge caravan. Best. Decision. Ever. The majority of our drive through Kansas, Missouri and Illinois we listened to Stephen King’s audio book, Full Dark, No Stars, which is a series of short stories about disturbing murders on farms and in cornfields, when we were driving past nothing but… farms and cornfields! Lol Creepy!

We arrived in St. Louis and met up with Natalie at her place. So good to see her! Her apt is in an old renovated house downtown, walking distance to shops and restaurants. Perfect while she is getting her law degree and her MPH! (so proud, love you!) While Natalie was at work/school, James and I went to go see the arch. James has the innate ability, despite being in a city for only a few hours, he can get anywhere and knows his away around immediately. (seriously, who does he think he is? …I only scoff because I am NOT like this, but hope to learn his directional skills. With him being the human map, and my ability to make friends with anybody, combined with our love for beer and food, we are unstoppable and will no doubt have a blast wherever we go!) We arrived at the arch and all I could think was, “how the hell did they build this thing??” Underneath the arch is a museum of American history, which we found (nerd alert!) completely fascinating. We did the touristy thing went up into the arch. We squeezed into a little pod and rode up to the top where we could see all of St. Louis on one side, and the Mississippi River/Illinois on the other. So cool!
